
Peter Gilchrist
Executive Director, Apprenticeship Support AustraliaPeter has over 30 years of management experience, focused on employment, education, and training sectors since 2000. His significant contributions to the Australian Apprenticeships Program earned him the prestigious, 2009 National Ministers Award for Australian Apprenticeships Support Service Excellence. Additionally, he led a regional NSW Registered Training Organisation to be named both NSW and Australian Large Training Provider of the Year.
Peter’s dedication to Vocational Education and Training (VET) is deeply rooted in his experience as an apprentice, which has fueled his passion for promoting apprenticeship career pathways.
As a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Peter has held several non-executive directorships, including roles with the National Association of Australian Apprenticeship Centre, and Community Colleges Australia. He serves as non-executive Director for NSW Manufacturing Skills Australia, Industry Training Advisory Board, and represents Business NSW on the Corrective Industries Consultative Council of NSW.
Since joining NSWBC as General Manager, ASA in April 2017, Peter has spearheaded innovative marketing strategies and technological advancements, such as leveraging artificial intelligence to predict apprentices’ support needs and automating administrative functions.
As Executive Director of the Australian Apprenticeships and Support Centre, Peter is responsible for the NSW and Queensland Apprentices Support Australia team, and developing strategic market-focused services for members, clients, and apprentices. He actively participates in Business NSW’s policy and advocacy discussions, on matters related to Australian Apprenticeships and the VET sector.
